ARCHBISHOP OF LOS ANGELES SUPPORTS BOSTON: ENTIRE CONCEPT OF VATICAN COUNCIL II CHANGES

The Archbishops of Los Angeles and Boston are in agreement. They agree that we do not know any exception to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. There is no known case of a non Catholic saved in invincible ignorance or a good conscience (LG 16) or ‘elements of sanctification’ (LG 8).

Archbishop José Horacio Gomez, the Archbishop of Los Angeles, California has not issued a denial or correction regarding the blog posts I have sent his office and many priests of the Archdiocese. There have also been no denials from the Ministries and Offices of the Archdiocese, who are well informed about the Catholic Faith.

Just like the Archdiocese of Boston and the dioceses of Worcester and Manchester, Archbishop Jose Gomez indicates Vatican Council II affirms the literal interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus. Ad Gentes 7 supports the dogma and Lumen Gentium 8 and 16 are not known exceptions. We cannot telephone or fax anyone saved in invincible ignorance or with implicit desire.

Fr. Leonard Feeney has changed our concept of interpreting Vatican Council II. He endorsed the literal interpretation of the dogma on exclusive salvation and rejected any known exception. It means LG 16, LG 8 are not exceptions to his interpretation of Vatican Council II. Vatican Council II supports Fr. Leonard Feeney.

Vatican Council II affirms the traditional Catholic teaching on other religions, ecumenism, ecclesiology, evangelization etc.

The Archbishops of Los Angeles and Boston can reject the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) doctrinal position on their being explicit known cases saved in invincible ignorance etc.

Presently the SSPX assumes Vatican Council II contradicts the traditional teaching on other religions, ecumenism etc when it is really their own interpretation of known exceptions which is at  fault.

The Archdioceses are also contradicting Archbishop Augustine Di Noia, Vice President of Ecclesia Dei, Vatican. In the interview with the National Catholic Register ,Archbishop Di Noia when asked about extra ecclesiam nulla salus said that there were exceptions to the dogma in Vatican Council II which should not be retracted. He assumed that LG 8 contradicted the dogma. They should  not be retracted because they do not contradict the dogma.

It may be mentioned that Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, founder of the SSPX, said that a non Catholic can be saved in invincible ignorance and implicit desire. However Archbishop Lefebvre did not state that these cases were explicitly known to us or that they were explicit exceptions to the dogma outside the church no salvation.

Similarly Vatican Council II admits that non Catholics can be saved in invincible ignorance etc but does not state that these cases are explicit or known exceptions to Fr. Leonard Feeney.

If Archbishop Augustine Di Noia announces that we do not know any case saved who has not had the Gospel preached to him (in invincible ignorance) etc there could be no doctrinal difference between the Vatican and the SSPX on Vatican Council II.

The Holy Spirit teaches the Church before and after Vatican Council II that there is exclusive salvation in only the Catholic Church and this is the message of the bishops.-Lionel Andrades
