Pope Benedict praised Cardinal Muller for defending a false 'faith'

Honoring Cardinal Müller, retired pope says bishops never really retire

Vatican Radio said Benedict also spoke about the importance of being prefect of the doctrinal congregation - a position he held for more than 23 years during the pontificate of St. John Paul II. Theological knowledge is essential for the role, the retired pope said, but so is knowing the limits of one’s theological knowledge.
Benedict concluded his introduction by telling Müller, “You have defended the clear traditions of the faith, but in the spirit of Pope Francis you have tried to understand how they can be lived today.” 1

Pope Benedict has praised Cardinal Muller for defending the faith .

PAST POSSIBILITIES ARE KNOWN EXCEPTIONS TO EENS TODAY
He means Cardinal Muller like himself as Cardinal Ratzinger, assumed possibilities of the past were living and known exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) in the present. This was the strange philosophical reasoning of the both of them. They considered this Catholic faith.
FOR BOTH OF THEM LG 16 A HYPOTHETICAL CASE IS A KNOWN EXCEPTION TO EENS TODAY
They both chose to interpret Lumen Gentium 16 in Vatican Council II as referring to known people saved outside the Church; someone whom you could meet on the streets who really was in Heaven, saved outside the Church, but was also an exception to the dogma EENS on earth. This was their Catholic 'faith'.

POPE BENEDICT DID NOT BREAK HIS SILENCE WITH ORTHODOXY AND CARD.MULLER ACCEPTED THIS
They both were comfortable when Pope Benedict 'broke his silence' and said EENS was no more like it was for the missionaries in the 16th century.Since there was a development with EENS for him. There were known examples of salvation outside the Church mentioned in Vatican Council II, for the both of them. These were the exceptions to the old exclusivist ecclesiology of the Church.Unknown people were known exceptions to the past ecclesiology of the Church.

THEY BOTH COULD HAVE AFFIRMED ORTHODOXY IN MARCH 2016 BUT THEY AVOIDED IT
They had a choice they could have clarified in March 2016(Avvenire) that there was no development of EENS in Vatican Council II since LG 16 etc refer to hypothetical cases. They are not references to known people saved outside the Church. So Vatican Council II is in harmony with the strict interpretation of the dogma EENS.

THE CDF DOES NOT DEFEND THE FAITH OF THE CHURCH
There is no rupture with the missionaries and the magisterium of the 16th century. This would be orthodoxy. This would be the Catholic faith. But this is not the faith of the Church which the CDF defends.-Lionel Andrades
