Fatima: How July 13, 1917 “changed” the Church

Fatima: How July 13, 1917 “changed” the Church

What Our Lady of Fatima did that day inspired many to convert, but provoked others to reject the faith.

This week marks the 100th anniversary of the most controversial apparition of Our Lady in Fatima, Portugal.
What she did that day inspired many to convert but provoked others to reject the faith out of hand. It made some people a little nutty and won the begrudging respect of others.
July 13 was the day Our Lady scared the daylights out of three shepherd children by showing them hell and sternly warning them about a second global war and a new age of martyrdom.
But the surprising — and surprisingly harsh — July 13, 1917 apparition changed the faith of the Church in our time.
First: July 13 returned hell to the center of Catholic consciousness.
Little Lucia dos Santos was 10 when Our Lady of Fatima began to appear to her every 13th of the month starting in May, 1917, along with her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto, 8 and 7.
But in July, instead of just exhorting the children to say the Rosary and pointing them to heaven, she showed them a terrible sight.
“We saw as it were a sea of fire,” Lucia wrote. “Plunged in this fire were demons and souls in human form … amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fear.”
To give Our Lady of Fatima credit, the vision of hell only happened after a year of preparation, including visits by an angel and much reassurance about heaven. But the vision so badly rattled Jacinta, especially, that it seemed to change her personality utterly.
The only thing that would make this vision okay, and not an example of emotional abuse, is if hell were a real place and we were in eminent danger of ending up there if we don’t do something drastic.
It is. We are.
Second: She reiterated the most unpopular — and most important — message of Christianity.
The messages of Jesus (Mark 1:15), John the Baptist (Matthew 3:1-2) and Peter (Acts 2:38) were all the same: “Repent!” Jesus defined the Church’s mission as preaching “repentance, for the forgiveness of sins” (Luke 24:47).
Yet every pope from Pius XII to Francis has said “the sin of the century is the loss of the sense of sin.”
The refusal to repent — the belief that sin doesn’t really matter — is at the heart of the major moral disasters of our time, from abortion to human trafficking, from the pornography epidemic to the urban violent crime rate. Those who see no wrong do terrible things.
Our Lady of Fatima’s vision of hell is an absolutely necessary corrective to the presumptuous expectation that we are all going to heaven no matter what. It is true that God wants to forgive everybody. But one thing stopshim: We don’t repent.
Third: Our Lady of Fatima de-romanticized war.
“This war will end,” Our Lady of Fatima told the children in July, “but if men do not refrain from offending God, another and more terrible war will begin.”
Whatever they understood about the particulars, the general sense of this message was clear to the children: War isn’t an occasion for God to reward victors, but to punish sin.
The “reward” paradigm had existed for a long time in Christian history: From Charlemagne to Joan of Arc, from Notre Dame des Victoires to the Conquistadores. Every Christian culture had their Robin Hood and King Arthur figures: Heroes of the unconventional virtues of clever violence.
But Our Lady of Fatima poured cold water on all of that. Martial virtues are real, but they are an example of God bringing good out of evil — not of God’s will being won by violence.
Finally, July 13 de-romanticized martyrdom.
For that matter, Our Lady of Fatima also level-set our understanding of martyrdom.
In the at-home movies era, many of us are only now watching Silence by Martin Scorcese, which follows a Jesuit’s disillusionment as he looks for glory in the persecutions of Japan and finds soul-numbing horror instead.
Our Lady of Fatima taught that lesson 100 years ago.
The children saw a vision of the pope “half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow,” praying for the corpses he stumbled past until he was himself shot. Our Lady knows that in heaven martyrdom is glorious — and that on earth, it is painful and sad.
The meaning of all of this was not lost on the three shepherd children.
They learned that it was absolutely urgent that they console Jesus, convert sinners and commit to Mary.
July 13 is only part of their story — a story that includes far more consolation than condemnation and was meant for every generation, including ours.

Fr.Stefano Visintin osb new Rector University of St. Anselm at loggerheads with Cardinal Ladaria: attack on the New Theology with hard facts

Fr.Stefano Visintin osb the new Rector of the University of St. Anselm Rome is theologically and doctrinally at loggerheads with the new and old Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Vatican. His statement, that there are no known cases of the baptism of desire and being saved invincible ignorance, for them to be exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus is a frontal attack on the New Theology of Rahner and Ratzinger. He is supported by Archbishop Thomas E.Gullickson and numerous priests in Rome .They also state the obvious. The baptism of desire refers to invisible cases in the present times. We cannot physically see a baptism of desire case in 2017 with or without the baptism of water. We cannot meet any one saved in invincible ignorance of the Gospel through no fault of his own, and who was saved or will be saved outside the Church; without 'faith and baptism'(AG 7).

For Fr.Luiz Ladaria S.J, as Secretary and President of the International Theological Commission these invisible cases were visible. So he stated in Christianity and the World Religions(1997 ITC) that   Fr. Leonard Feeney was wrong with his exclusivist ecclesiology. For the then Fr.Ladaria and Cardinal Ratzinger, the baptism of desire etc were exceptions to extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) as it was known over the centuries. In other words they were explicit for them to be exceptions.Upon this wrong observation the New Theology was created which was enforced within the Church,by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
He did not tell Archbishop Lefebvre that without the New Theology Vatican Council ( Feeneyite) would not be a rupture with Tradition. The Prefect of the CDF did not announce that there could be two interpretations of the Council , one with the irrational premise( according to  Kung and Kasper) and one without the premise, which was his obligation as the Prefect of the CDF to announce.
Now Pope Benedict and Cardinal Ladaria are also contradicted by the Director of the Office of Evangelisation of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, Alabama,John Martignoni. The Bible scholar and Catholic apologist says zero cases of something cannot be exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. This is something obvious. It is common sense. No rocket science here, folks.
Now there will be a flood of interpretations of Vatican Council II.Since the old premise has been put away by Visintin.
The former Dean of Theology at St.Anselm is telling us that all hypothetical cases referred to in Vatican Council II (LG 8, LG16, LG 14, AG 7, NA 2, GS 22,UR 3 etc) are not objectively known in personal cases. So they are not relevant to the old ecclesiology of the Church based on EENS as it was known to the missionaries in the 16th century .Vatican Council II does not contradict the theology and doctrines of St. Benedict, whose feast day it is today.
So it makes the last message of Cardinal Muller to the SSPX on doctrine-  redundant.Cardinal Muller wanted the SSPX to accept Vatican Council II with hypothetical cases being known exceptions to the dogma EENS in the present times. Along with Pope Benedict and Cardinal Ladaria, Muller rejected the SSPX General Chapter Statement in 2012.It affirmed Feeneyite EENS as doctrine.
It was rejected by Mons. Guido Pozzo and Archbishop Di Noia too since for them hypothetical cases in Vatican Council II were objective exceptions to Feeneyite EENS.So the 2012 doctrinal statement was quietly put away.
Now the entire game-plan has been changed. The SSPX-Vatican Reconciliation dialogue must take into account the statement of the new Rector of the Benedictine University in Rome.
It is the SSPX and the sedevacantists (Bishops Pirvanus and Sanborn) who are in the happy seat.Vatican Council II ( Feeneyite)  is right up their street! They only have to wait until this information sinks in among Catholics in general.
Then young engaged couples will ask their bishops and priests to interpret the Nicene Creed without the irrational premise, before they are married.Parish Councils and Marriage Tribunals will demand that a Protestant converts into the Catholic Church before he marries a Catholic.Since the non Catholic is outside the Church according to Vatican Council II (AG 7, LG 14).The inter faith marriage will not be a Sacrament and a dispensation would not be given.Cardinal Ladaria would be asked to affirm Vatican Council II, Feeneyite instead of Cushingite, as Prefect of the CDF.All religious at their Profession of Faith or Renewal of Vows would be saying ' I believe in one baptism for the forgivness of sins' and meaning only one known baptism and not three.Mission would be based on knowing that all non Catholics are oriented to Hell with no known exceptions, in the present times. There could only be an ecumenism of return, since there are no exceptions to the old ecclesiology of the Church based on outside the Church there is no salvation.Since there are only Catholics in Heaven and every one needs to enter the Church as a member to avoid Hell the proclamation of the Social Reign of Christ the King over all political legislation would be a priority, for salvation,as would be the need for the non separation of Church and State.-Lionel Andrades

DEAN OF THEOLOGY AT ST. ANSELM SAYS THERE ARE NO KNOWN EXCEPTIONS TO THE DOGMA EXTRA ECCLESIAM NULLA SALUS

Monks of St.Benedict at Subiaco do not have the freedom to proclaim the Catholic Faith. The State allows them to work and pray but not proclaim

The monks of St.Benedict at Subiaco do not have the freedom to proclaim the Catholic Faith. The State allows them to work and pray but not proclaim. In Italy the government today is pro-Mason and so pro-Satan.They will place restrictions on the things of God, especially the Catholic Church, which is the only Church of God and the only path to salvation, the only means to avoid Hell.
So unlike St. Benedict, whose feast day it is today, they cannot proclaim that outside the Church there is no salvation and that all Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, atheiests and communists are on the path to Hell unless they become members of the Catholic Church .
The secular state, which promotes things of Satan, will not allow them to make this proclamation in harmony with Vatican Council II, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Dominus Iesus,Nicene Creed,Athanasius Creed and the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, all interpreted with the theology of Feeneyism.
So to protect their historical property the Catholic Church in Rome is not proclaiming the Faith. Also the monks to stay with the community are not proclaiming the Faith as did St. Benedict and St. Scholastica whose bodies are now at the monastery in Cassino.
Like at Cassino and Subiaco, at the Benedictine university of St. Anselm in Rome, the theology is controlled by the State, it is controlled by Satan.
The only way the monks at Santa Scholastica, Subiaco can proclaim the Faith it seems is by leaving the monastery and going on foot, in the country side, like St. Benedict.
He is the paton saint of Europe and he evangelised on foot.
But how are the monks to leave their cars, modern appliances and all-things-found-life style ? Eighty percent of them at the monastery are elderly. They have lay people from the town at Subiaco employed at the monastery.
I have been there a few times and had lunch together with the Abbot and monks at Subiaco before last Easter.I have attended Mass there when the people of the town are also present.
If the Mass in Latin or Italian is offered at this monastery it would make no difference since the proclamation of the faith, the theology of the Mass and the ecclesiology is being controlled. It is not the same as during Mass, when St. Benedict lived in his cave.
The monks are forced to choose from two interpretations of Vatican Council II. Vatican Council II (Cushingite) and Vatican Council II (Feeneyite). The State forces them to accept only Vatican Council II (Cushingite). Vatican Council II(Cushingite) cannot be the work of the Holy Spirit. Since it has false philosophical reasoning. There are objective errors and it violates the Principle of Non Contradiction.
The Benedictine monks have to assume that there were visible cases of the baptism of desire etc which were objective exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
This was the objective error in the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 and in the Fr. Leonard Feeney case. The magisterium assumed invisible people were visible exceptions to all needing to be members of the Church for salvation.
This was the philosophical reasoning at Vatican Council II. The passages which mention the baptism of desire and being saved in invincible ignorance (AG 7, LG 14) in Vatican Council II are superfluous. They should not have been there in the Council text.
They are there since th
e Council Fathers, like Cardinal Richard Cushing placed them there. He used a false premise (invisible baptism of desire is visible). His new theology was false ( invisible cases are visible exceptions to the traditional interpretation on exclusive salvation in the Church), this is expressed in LG 16, LG 8, UR 3, NA 2 etc. He violated the Principle of Non Contradiction ( how can people in Heaven be visible exceptions on earth? ). His conclusion was false. Since how can INVISIBLE for US LG 16 etc be considered visible and excluding the baptism of water ? So Vatican Council II becomes a break with Tradition, in particular the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus ( Feeneyite) and the Syllabus of Errors. All this has to be accepted by the Benedictines.
Obviously Vatican Council II ( Feeneyite) is different. It is without the false premise and conclusion of the State controlled theology. It would be a different Vatican Council II.It would be traditional and not a rupture with Tradition. It would affirm the teachings of the Church, over the centuries, guided by the Holy Spirit. It would be in harmony with the spirituality and theology of St. Benedict.
But it is banned today.
The monks fear for their life in their old age and the young Benedictines do not seem to know about Vatican Council II ( Feeneyite) since it is not being taught at the pontifical universities.Even if they know about it....?!
So the 'liberal' monks promote the New Theology which is not the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit cannot make an objective mistake. If some of the Benedictine priests offer the Traditional Latin Mass it is with the New Ecclesiology, which cannot be from the Holy Spirit.
They affirm Vatican Council II (Cushingism) and so approve of inter faith marriages. For them it is not adultery. 1
They do not reject Vatican Council II (Cushingism) like the Franciscans of the Immaculate. They use Rahner's Theology and even teach it at the University of St.Anslem controlled by the Masons.
They are so far from the teachings of St. Benedict - whose feast day they will all celebrate - as if it is a political event, approved by the Left.
