For Catholics in pre and post Vatican Council II times Mohammad did not choose the ordinary means of salvation.
The ordinary means of salvation is not invincible ignorance or a good conscience. It is not 'good and holy things in other religions'(NA 2) or 'elements of sanctification and truth'(LG 8) in other religions. These are hypothetical possibilities known only to God and they would be followed with the baptism of water in the Catholic Church.Since this has been the dogmatic teaching for centuries.
There are no practical exceptions to Ad Gentes 7(all need faith and baptism for salvation) and the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus' exclusivist ecclesiology. We do not know any one in 2017 who will be saved outside the Church, we cannot know any one who will be saved without Catholic faith, which includes the Sacraments and the faith and moral teachings of the Church.
Church Militant TV, the Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, the Archbishop of Detroit and the Archdiocese Religious Education department, all, interpret Vatican Council II with irrational Cushingism. They use a false premise to interpret the Council. So the conclusion is a rupture with Tradition. However without the false premise which is invisible cases are visible, the baptism of desire refers to visible people, there are personally known and seen cases of non Catholics saved in invincible ignorance and without the baptism of water in the Catholic Church etc- Vatican Council II is in harmony with St. John Bosco's description of Hell.
The U.S bishops do not affirm Vatican Council II( Feeneyite) on Islam and neither do Robert Spencer and Church Militant TV.
Robert Spencer could simply say all Muslims need to enter the Church with faith and baptism in 2017 to avoid the fires of Hell according to Vatican Council II and there are no exceptions mentioned in the Council text and nor are there any practical exceptions in 2017.
Similarly Michael Voris could announce that there are no practical exceptions mentioned in Vatican Council II to the dogma outside the Church there is no salvation, as it was known to the missionaries in the 16th century. We do not know any one today who does not need to enter the Church for salvation. We cannot see any one saved in invincible ignorance (LG 16) and without the baptism of water in the Catholic Church. So LG 16 is not an exception to the traditional ecclesiology of the Catholic Church.
