Pakistani Catholic seminary uses irrational theology to interpret Vatican Council II

The National Catholic Institute of Theology (NCIT) was established in Karachi, Pakistan in September 1997. It offers academic courses leading to a diploma in theology, ( they interpret Vatican Council II with Cushingism instead of Feeneyism, with the  Right Hand Side Column (Red Column 1)  instead of the Left Hand Side Column (Blue Column) ) as well as programs for laypeople and Religious involved in Church ministries. At the Institute students can now obtain a Bachelor of Theology degree from Melbourne University due to the efforts of Yarra Theological Union and the Melbourne College of Divinity.(These Australian Theological Colleges also interpret Vatican Council II with an irrational premise and inference to reach a non traditional conclusion. Their 'new
theology' is based on an irrational premise. They can allegedly see people in Heaven
saved without the baptism of water.)

It is located at the Christ the King Seminary which in 1997 was the only theological faculty in the country where seminarians and religious received their doctrinal and pastoral formation for the priesthood.(The Seminary was always Cushingite and taught an ecclesiology which was a break with the pre-Council of Trent ecclesiology ) When an urgent need was felt for a relevant and sound theological formation of the religious and clergy to build up and strengthen of the local Church, the Franciscans and Dominicans started serious reflection on the possibility of a second theological faculty which would also be open to lay men and women who wished to undertake degree or diploma theological studies or in-depth Biblical and Theological studies for their faith formation.(The Franciscans and Dominicans interpret Vatican Council II with the red column, which is irrational)  TheCatholic Bishops' Conference of Pakistan (CBCP) approved the idea of a National Institute to provide theological formation in the spirit of renewal desired by the Second Vatican Council ( according to Cushingism) , in keeping with theological principles ( principles of accomodation, change and compromise) and the challenges faced by the Church in the Asia.

All academic administration is the responsibility of Board of Governors which includes representatives of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan. It is a joint venture with collaboration among the Bishops and the religious orders, who also share responsibility. The Academic Staff emphasize special care to the deepening of theological education and formation in keeping with the changing realities which priests, religious and laity face. Now the study of theology is no longer an exclusive discipline accessible only to a privileged few. Every Christian man and woman can receive an appropriate spiritual and doctrinal formation.(with an irrationality, the dead man walking and visible theory, fantasy theology, the dead-saved and physically seen theology) The Committee consisting of Sr. Margaret Madden rsm, Fr. Clement Waidyasekara omi, Fr. Arthur Charles and Fr. Pascal Robert ofm,( good people but Cushingites)  was formed to prepare a Policy and Procedure Manual for NCIT. In 1998 the PPM was officially approved by the Board of Governors. For the first time in the history of the Catholic Church in Pakistan, a centre of theological learning opened for a wider participation of the laity, religious and clergy.( lay people who could lose their Catholic Faith if they had it from the pre-partition times, before 1947)

Christ the King Seminary is a Roman Catholic seminary in Karachi.(It is a Cushingite seminary)  It is located adjacent to the Portiuncula Friary. In its early years most of the faculty were provided by the Franciscans. It has been described as “the pioneering theological institution for the Catholic Church in Pakistan.”
The high-water mark of the seminary's 50-year existence was the recruitment of 98 seminarians for the class that entered in 1990. (Many seminarians who had the Catholic Faith could have lost it here )

Fr. Samson Shukardin, OFM, New Bishop

The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Samson Shukardin, O.F.M., as bishop of Hyderabad (area 137,386, population 22,309,840, Catholics 47,242, priests 30, religious 89), Pakistan. The bishop-elect was born in Hyderabad, Pakistan in 1961, gave his solemn vows in 1991 and was ordained a priest in 1993. He holds a diploma in theology from the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi and a licentiate in civil law from the Sindh Law College, and has served in a number of pastoral roles, including parish vicar in Gujrat, procurator of the Franciscan province, and custodian of the Franciscan Order and president of the Conference of Major Superiors in Pakistan.
He is currently parish priest of the “St. Elizabeth” parish in Hyderabad, diocesan director of the Commission of Justice and Peace, and vicar general of the diocese of Hyderabad. He succeeds Bishop Max John Rodrigues, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese upon reaching the age limit was accepted by the Holy Father.

When the seminary started in 1956 it had only four students...(Before the seminary was founded the theology in Karachi, Pakistan (1947) was Feeneyite)
The National Catholic Institute of Theology (NCIT) was established at the seminary in September 1997, offering academic courses leading to a diploma in theology, as well as programs for laypeople and Religious involved in Church ministries. At the Institute students can now obtain a Bachelor of Theology degree from Melbourne University due to the efforts of Yarra Theological Union and the Melbourne College of Divinity.

Newman Theological College

Our Mission

Newman Theological College (NTC) is a Roman Catholic School of Theology committed to the provision of theological education to Christian woman and men. The college prepares laity, religious, and ordained ministers for service and leadership to meet the needs of the Church in Western Canada.

Our Vision

Newman Theological College fulfills this mission through theological education in the following ways:
  1. Programs that prepare students for professional and volunteer ministry in the Church, notably the Master of Divinity degree.
  2. Provision for academic study of theology through programs at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  3. Special attention to the needs of the Catholic educational community through programs such as the Master of Religious Education program and the Graduate Certificate in Catholic School Administration.
For Newman Theological College a natural consequence of our academic study of theology is the desire to make theological education and faith formation available to all through participation in the New Evangelization. This occurs through the college’s Benedict XVI Institute for New Evangelization. The Institute provides:
  1. Certificate in Catholic Studies: short and affordable online courses and certificates in many areas of theology.
  2. An annual enculturation program for international priests.
  3. Treasures of Our Faith: Free seminars with college faculty on various issues of theology and faith.
  4. Vocatus: A community of business leaders who gather to foster reflection on faith and vocation.
  5. Aboriginal Spirituality and Ministry: Sponsors seminars that support reflection upon aboriginal spirituality and ministry in relation to the Catholic faith.

Context and Scope

A Roman Catholic School of Theology

NTC was founded in 1969 in the wake of the Second Vatican Council by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton, Alberta.( It uses Cushingism as a theology 1.It uses the Right Hand Column and not The Left Hand Side Column 2. With this irrationality it interprets Vatican Council II. NTC grew out of the existing structure of St. Joseph Seminary which had already opened its doors in 1967 to lay people and religious for the study of theology. NTC is a private, Catholic academic institution dedicated to the study of theology and related disciplines. Its charter to confer degrees was originally granted by the Legislative Assembly of Alberta on April 29, 1969. NTC has been an accredited member of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in the United States and Canada since 1992. ( It is similar to the Catholic colleges and universitiesin Florida, USA which use Cushingism instead of traditional Feeneyism as a theology to interpret Vatican Council II)
NTC carries out its mission for the Church in an ongoing partnership with St. Joseph Seminary whose particular mission is the human, spiritual and pastoral formation of future diocesan priests. Both institutions remain distinct, interdependent, and complementary. Lay men and women, diocesan clergy from Western Canada, along with several religious orders of men and consecrated women work together to fulfill the mission of NTC. In this way, NTC is infused with the life-giving collaboration of all members of the Body of Christ that is the beauty and grace of the Church.

About our Namesake

Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman (1801—1890) was one of the great figures of theological reflection in the life of the modern Church. First as a leading Anglican divine and then as the premier Catholic theologian of nineteenth century England— Newman articulated a compelling vision of Catholic Tradition in challenging conversation with the modern world. This “illustrious man of the Church and important Catholic thinker” (Pope Benedict XVI) continues to shape Christian reflection and life and so serves as a life-giving model for the mission of Newman Theological College. On Sept 19, 2010 Cardinal Newman was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in Coventry, England.

Theological Education:

Faith Seeking Understanding

Theology is situated within the broader evangelizing, teaching-educating mission of the Church which comes from Christ Himself. As is seen in the formation of the books of the New Testament, the special ministry of theology has been operative in the Church from apostolic times.(Over the centuries the theology was Feeneyite 3 )  Theology is primarily a faith-filled, intellectual, systematic, sustained, comprehensive and critical pursuit that probes and clarifies the meaning of Christian life in the light of the Revelation of God. It seeks to understand and integrate in the lived Christian reality the inexhaustible gift of God’s Truth and Love in Jesus Christ and the impact of this gift on every facet of Christian life: contemplative, apologetic, pastoral, spiritual, liturgical, inter-disciplinary, social and aesthetic. At NTC, we attempt to grasp a right understanding of the main issues of belief and behavior in response to the needs, problems, questions and challenges of the contemporary world and to the joy-filled urgency of the proclamation of the Word of God.
Christian theology at NTC is grounded in the divine-human drama which unfolds historically in Israel, Christ and the Church. As a result, at NTC, we study the special documentary witness to this history in Scripture and Tradition with the methodology and perspective embraced by the mind of the Church and required by all the historical documents.
The goal of theological education at NTC is the capacity for Christian service and leadership in the contemporary Church and world. Theological reflection on ministry is a part of every professional degree.
Spiritual formation and growth is integral to the preparation of men and women for service and leadership in the Church. Lay spiritual formation at NTC draws from Scripture and the many spiritualities in Christian tradition. It facilitates growth in discipleship and in living gospel values, recognizing the inter-relatedness in light of theological education, human maturing, and the universal call to holiness. We invite students to discover and develop a deeper relationship with God and Jesus Christ and to find the workings of the Holy Spirit in their daily lives.
A welcoming, personable and worshipping community is important to theological studies at NTC. We seek to incorporate in our communal life what is taught and learned. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to participate in worship as well as community and social events.
The learning goals of students at NTC are varied. Some students prepare for the ordained ministry, others for lay ministry, others to share in the special ministry of Catholic Education; still others attend NTC for personal faith enrichment and theological renewal. All men and women who have the necessary prerequisites for the various programs are welcome. Various teaching methodologies are used to respond better to the needs and learning styles of the adults enrolled at NTC. NTC, as an academic institution of higher learning in service to the Church, promotes that deepest satisfaction which derives from reflective discipleship of the crucified and risen Lord Jesus.

Inter-Catholic Collegiality

NTC recognizes, respects and supports the diversity of churches and church traditions within the Catholic communion, both Eastern and Western Catholic. Courses in Eastern Christianity are offered and the Eastern Christian perspective is incorporated into existing courses wherever possible.

Ecumenical Vision

This sensitivity to diversity also extends to the ecumenical dimension of Christian theology. (It supports the new ecumenism interpreted with Cushingism.) NTC has students and professors from other Christian churches (e.g., Anglican, Evangelical, Lutheran, Orthodox) and it offers courses in some of these traditions. The college works collaboratively with local colleges of other denominations in many ways. There is also an awareness of the increasing importance of the knowledge of and dialogue with world religions.

The Church in Western Canada

NTC strives to remain open to the global dimensions of theology in the Church and in the world today as well as to be particularly aware of the Western and Northern Canadian context with its own experiences, problems and approaches. The important ministry of theological education is NTC’s invaluable contribution to the life and mission of the Church in Western Canada.
