It 'true that anyone who belongs to a false religion can also be saved (in conditions of involuntary ignorance), but  attention- you are saved not because but in spite of belonging to it.Lionel:This is speculation. Why is it mentioned with reference to the dogmatic on outside the Church there is no salvation? There is no known case of someone being saved in invincible ignorance and without the baptism of water in 2016 or in the past.So this is not relevant to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. You can accept it as a possibility , something speculated with good will, but it is a 'zero case' in 2016.Similarly Lumen Gentium 16 (invincible ignorance) refers  to a hypothetical case that cannot be known in the present times. Lumen Gentoum 16 should not be considered an exception to the Feeneyite interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. This point is never made clear by the apologist Corrado Gnerre.Sometimes he seems to imply that to be saved in ignorance invincible refers to a case explicit. Here he is  making the same mistake as Pope Pius XII in the Letter of the Holy Office in 1949 to the Archbishop of Boston. He assumes that an imaginary case was not imaginary, but real. Then it is concluded that it was an exception to the Feeneyite interpretation of the dogma on exclusive salvation in the Catholic Church. The same error was repeated then in the Second Vatican Council (LG 14). So now many assume that not every one needs to enter the Church without exception, but only those who know, those who are not invincible ignorance.Corrado Gnerre also repeats this new  doctrine based on an objective  error that the magisterium (teaching authority of the Chruch) has made, in the case of Fr. Leonard Feeney of Boston.
