Religious formation : 25 years in error

Yesterday a religious sister in Rome celebrated the 25th anniversary of her entry into religious life.A  Jesuit priest gave the homily at Holy Mass.

 

I realized that both of them, the sister and the priest, have had their religious formation assuming that Vatican Council II (Lumen Gentiium 16 etc)  were exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. They were always taught this irrationality.

 

Now they have the possibility to know that those saved  in invincible ignorance (LG 16), imperfect communion with the Church (UR 3) etc are not visible to us, with the naked eye.They are not personally known to us in 2014 for them to be relevant to the traditional teaching on exclusive salvation in the Catholic Church.

 

We now know that there are no known exceptions. Vatican Council affirms the dogma on exclusive salvation with Ad Gentes 7, all need faith and baptism.

 

Pope Francis has said that Vatican Council II is irreversible.So this is the rational teaching of the Council which all must accept.It is irreversible.

 

The Jesuit Cardinal Carlo Martini made the same error and was teaching it at the Gregorian Pontifical University, Rome when he was the Rector.This has been the religious formation of the Jesuits since the 1940's.
