NEW POSSIBILITIES HAVE OPENED FOR THE SSPX

The Society of St.Pius X (SSPX ) has agreed that it has made factual errors in its publications and conferences especially with reference to Vatican Council II.

This has opened up new possibilities for reconciliation with the Vatican .

Since they admit there are no exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus and since they admit that there are no known exceptions mentioned in Vatican Council II to the dogma on exclusive salvation two important differences they had with the Vatican  have been removed.

The Council is traditional in its text on the issue of other religions and Christian communities.

Inter religious dialogue and ecumenism were the main issues which prevented the SSPX from accepting the Council. They also wanted the Vatican to come back to Tradition on these two points.

Now that the SSPX is in a position to accept the literal interpretation of extra ecclesiam nulla salus, since there are no known exceptions, they  can cite the Council to support their traditional views on other religions and ecumenism.

When the media says that the SSPX does not accept the 'reforms' of Vatican Council II on Judaism and other religions, it can be pointed out by the SSPX that there is nothing mentioned in the Council which contradicts extra ecclesiam nulla salus and the SSPX's traditional position. Also Ad Gentes 7 which says all need 'faith and baptism' for salvation supports the dogma, defined three times and which does not mention any exceptions.

So the situation has changed for the better for the SSPX and the possibility of their entering the Church with full canonical status.

They can now affirm a Vatican Council II which is in perfect agreement with the Syllabus of Errors ( ecumenism and other religions) and the Church Councils and popes, on non Christian religions.

They also place an obligation on the Vatican to endorse the Council without suggesting that the dead now saved in Heaven are physically visible, who are known exceptions to Tradition.
