CANTATE DOMINO, COUNCIL OF FLORENCE ON EXTRA ECCLESIAM NULLA SALUS IS DE FIDE AND NOT CONTRADICTED BY VATICAN COUNCIL II- Fr. Nevus Marcello O.P

Reiterates that the baptism of desire and all implicit salvation is known only to God and we do not know any explicit case

Fr. Nevus Marcello O.P, who regularly hears Confession throughout the day at the basilica of St. Mary Majors in Rome, said about an hour ago (July 20) that the dogma Cantate Domino, Council of Florence 1441 is de fide and he is obligated to believe in it.

He repeated the same message as in the last conversation I had with him. He said that the baptism of desire is known only to God and we do not know any particular case. Similarly we do not know any case of a person saved in invincible ignorance. He said we hope that there are persons saved in this category and accepted it as a possibility.

Neither do we know any case of a non Catholic saved implicitly by Jesus and the Church he said so this teaching mentioned in the Catechism N.846 does not contradict the dogma Cantate Domino.

He repeated that there is nothing in Vatican Council II which is in conflict with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
