IS JEFFREY MIRUS INTIMIDATING PHIL LAWLER?

The report Tragic Errors of Fr. Leonard Feeney by Fr.William Most  placed on the Internet by Trinity Communications is hatred and disinformation about the Catholic Church, its teachings and about a priest who was innocent and only following a centuries-old dogma now affirmed by Vatican Council II.

The report falsely alleges that the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus does not say everyone must be a visible, formal member of the Catholic Church to avoid Hell.

Trinity Communications 'Jeffrey Mirus, who is also President of Catholic Culture (CatholicCulture.org), has sent me an e-mail. He denies that the dogma says everyone must be a visible member of the Church. He said this is not the teaching of the Magisterium. However he has not been able to provide any Magisterial text to support his view.

This falsehood regarding the dogma is not being denied or clarified by Phil Lawler, Editor and Director of Catholic Culture. A few weeks back I sent him the text of the ex cathedra dogma and asked him if it said that everyone must be a visible member of the Catholic Church to avoid Hell, and that there were no exceptions.

Phil Lawler has not responded.

Jeffrey Mirus is his boss and the owner of the company. Mirus’ Trinity Communications has an economic interest in the public lie about the Catholic dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

According to the Catholic Culture website Jeffrey Mirus has ‘established a for-profit communications consulting enterprise.’ Trinity Consulting.

In 2006, Trinity Communications acquired the Catholic World News (CWNews.com) website, solidifying a 10-year development relationship. Catholic World News was the Internet's first, most independent and reliable online Catholic news source. Trinity retained the site's editorial leadership, Phil Lawler to carry forward the mission of the site. The Catholic World News content has now been migrated into the Catholic Culture website.-Catholic Culture website
Jeffrey Mirus decided to employ Phil Lawler (1). Phil Lawler allowed his employer to recently post a series of controversial reports on extra ecclesiam nulla salus. May be he did not have a choice but he is still technically the editor.

Assuming someone took this issue to court. Assuming someone felt hurt by the these falsehoods on the Internet report placed by Trinity Communications (Tragic Errors of Fr. Leonard Feeney by Fr. William Most), assuming a Catholic in the USA or elsewhere considered it hate and false propaganda, including the Catholic Culture reports, would Phil Lawler be willing to testify in public that the dogma says everyone needs to be a visible, formal, explicit member of the Catholic Church?

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus is now a political issue like abortion and homosexuality. The secular media maintains an ideological position on this dogma. They will not issue a clarification or contradiction and they are supported by ‘Catholic’ publications like The Tablet and The National Catholic Reporter.

Bishops and priests who contradict them could be criticized by the leftist media and organizations including influential members of the Catholic Church. One’s basic right to live the Catholic faith freely and to express it freely has been under threat over the extra ecclesiam nulla salus issue. So Phil Lawler could be faced with a difficult decision.

It’s like when the Communist media in China maintain a public lie it cannot be opposed. You just mask a grin like the rest and clap enthusiastically.

The Times issue of Oct 13,1952 maintains the same lie as Jeffrey Mirus, Trinity Communications and the lat Fr. William Most.In the On Oct.13, 1952, Times (Religion: I Preach Hatred) criticizes Fr. Leonard Feeney. It says the Archbishop of Boston suspended the Jesuit priest because 'he took literally the Catholic doctrine that “outside the church there is no salvation” i.e. insisting that everyone who is not a good Catholic will go to hell. ‘This report made available on the Internet even today shows the bias which has been cultivated and maintained.

Yet what Fr. Leonard Feeney said was the literal Catholic teaching which can be seen in the text of the ex cathedra dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. It indicates all Jews and other non Catholics are on the path to Hell unless they convert into the Catholic Church, the only Church of the Jewish Messiah with whom God made an everlasting Covenant for all time. The dogma also indicates that all Jews in Boston are on the way to Hell as Fr. Leonard Feeney taught and so did the Letter of the Holy Office.

Wikipedia could have picked up the same line frrm the Trinity Communications report. When you access extra ecclesiam nulla salus it states:

The Roman Catholic Church also teaches that the doctrine does not mean that everyone who is not visibly within the Church is necessarily damned (see below).
If as a Catholic one is offended or has lost privileges because of these reports, one can take the text(2) of the dogma to a judicial or civil authority, in the USA, England or Australia and ask an objective question with a yes or no answer.
I do not know if Mr. C.J Doyle could help with this issue.(3)

Here is the ex cathedra dogma text :

1. “There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved.” (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215). Ex cathedra.

2.“We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.).Ex cathedra.

3.“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.)
